Live in the Present, Learn from the Past
Interlude Hypnotherapy

Infants are facinating to me; ever present to their immediate need for gratification, from the urgency of wanting to be fed to needing comfort or drifting off into a deep sleep.
Unconcerned with what was or what might be, entirely focused with what is required right now. This simple reality although contingent on the input and willingness of others to fulfill those needs, does result in a contented happy being.
I frequently find myself pondering why it is we often find ourselves expending enormous physical, mental, and emotional energy doing our utmost to avoid immersing ourselves in right now? The only certainty we have is in fact this now, a precious fleeting moment, eluding us as we choose consciously or subconsciously to get caught up in the drama that is our life.
Don’t get me wrong, everyone’s experience of this is different, not just moment to moment, but also as we move through different stages and states of our being, the experiences we encounter, the impact of action, inaction or just plain indifference.
In my own experience, I have come to realise that when we strip everything away, what is the most basic fundamental thing separating those present from the absent? It is in fact the breath. In our busyness we have become seperated from if not completely oblivious to this most fundamental life affirming occurence. The inhalation then a momentary pause followed by the exhalation.
What I would like to share and advocate is that you fall head-over-heels in love with your breath and connect to it. As you move through each cycle, begin to notice not only the subtleties of the breath, the quality, duration but also space. Connect to what you’re feeling in-real time. Close your eyes, sit comfortably and pay attention and you will notice when the breath is laboured; when you are holding on too tight or even withholding your breath or when it sounds like a soft flowing whisper.
Begin the process of unravelling and understanding how your thoughts effect your energy and every aspect of your breath and vice versa. Become the silent observer and witness your breath and what is occuring within and around you. By doing so you will feel truly empowered and learn how to respond and restore balance to your being. You will move forward in a purposeful way, learn to let go of fear and all that is holding you back from fullfilling your lifes purpose. Learn to pay attention to what your precious breath reveals, manifest all that you are by realising your dreams. Go ahead, what is it that you are waiting for?
